ArcadiaID recommends purchasing the Full ID Card Kit if this is your first time making ID Cards and you do not have a laminator. The Full ID Card Kits include the laminator, synthetic paper, butterfly pouches and holographic overlays needed to make ID cards.

If you already have a laminator ArcadiaID recommends getting the Refill Pack which includes the synthetic paper, butterfly pouches and holographic overlays needed to make ID cards.

Please note that ArcadiaID recommends using an EasyIDea™ minilam™ ID Card Pouch Laminator. These laminators have been specifically designed to laminate ID cards and badges and are already pre-set to the optimal laminating temperature. Standard laminators are designed to laminate photos and might not work as well as the EasyIDea™ minilam™ ID Card Pouch Laminator. If you are using a standard laminator you will need to set the laminating temperature to 270F.

EasyIDea™ minilam™ ID Card Pouch Laminators have been specifically designed to laminate ID cards and badges.

The EasyIDea™ minilam™ ID Card Pouch Laminator ML450 is already pre-set to the optimal laminating temperature for ID cards and badges.

The EasyIDea™ minilam™ ID Card Pouch Laminator ML450T has a temperature control option:

• Setting (II) is pre-set to the optimal laminating temperature for ID cards and badges (butterfly pouches 7 to 10 mil thick).
• Setting (I) lowers the laminating temperature to laminate butterfly pouches 3 to 5 mil thick.

It is important to determine which type of printer you are going to use to make ID cards as it will dictate the type of synthetic paper you can use.

• Artisyn® is a premium brand of synthetic paper that can be used with both Inkjet and Laser printers. Artisyn® will provide sharper and brighter printing quality than Teslin®. Artisyn® comes in full 8.5” by 11” full sheets or in 8.5” by 11” pre-perforated 8-up sheets.
• Teslin® is synthetic paper that comes in two grades – Inkjet and Laser. Teslin® paper comes in full 8.5” by 11” full sheets, 8.5” by 11” pre-perforated 8-up sheets and 3” by 4” pre-perforated 1-up sheets.

Each pre-perforated insert tears out easily, eliminating the need for scissors, and reducing the time it takes to make ID cards from minutes to seconds! ID inserts measure "2.125 x 3.375" and fit perfectly in all of ArcadiaID’s butterfly pouches. Please refer to ArcadiaID’s Tutorial Page to download free 8-up and 1-up printing templates!

Both Artisyn® and Inkjet® can be printed on both sides.

Butterfly laminating pouches come in 2 different finishes:

• Glossy — The cards will have a shiny finish
• Matte — The cards will diffuse direct light, eliminating any glare of reflection.

To make a standard 30 mil ID card a 10 mil butterfly pouch is needed.

A 10 mil butterfly pouch is needed to make a 30 mil — the standard thickness for all identification cards – identification card. A 7 mil butterfly pouch will make a thinner ID card.

A HiCo magnetic stripe can be added to each butterfly pouch. Magnetic Stripes are easily encoded with a magnetic stripe encoder such as ArcadiaID’s EasyIDea™ Magnetic Stripe Encoder. This Encoder is also compatible with ALL MSR206 software.

Adding an overlay to your ID cards will not only make your card more durable but will add an additional layer of visual security.

ID overlays are available with a either full spectrum holographic design or a simple clear non-holographic protective finish.
